Hailing from Nova Scotia, I have always loved nature and wildlife. Pouring through animal encyclopedias as a kid, I started watching birds as a preteen. I was instantly hooked on the beauty and diversity of birds, and dreamed of visiting seemingly exotic places such as Ecuador, the Serengeti, and New Zealand. I am happy to say that became a reality as I travel and work with birds since I took those intrepid first steps.
I did a B.Sc. in biology at the University of Guelph, and worked various bird related field jobs across Canada, the US, Guyana, Colombia, and more, before returning to Nova Scotia to do a M.Sc. at Acadia University studying movements of migratory songbirds. I cut my teeth in the bird guiding world in 2014 in Ecuador, and have birded in other parts of South America, Africa, Europe, and Oceania.

Now based in Halifax, NS where I grew up, I split my time as a freelance wildlife biologist (mostly bird and plant surveys) and as a professional bird guide. I guide several Canada- based tours for Eagle-Eye Tours and Avocet Tours, as well as doing my own private guiding. I am a long-time active member of the Nova Scotia birding community. I am one of the primary eBird reviewers here, and I know the birds and places of this beautiful province like the back of my hand. At home in the great outdoors, I am always eager to share with you my passion, knowledge and fondness for the birds, places, and wildlife of Nova Scotia and beyond!
